Werner Hamacher. Werner Hamacher (born 1948) is a German literary critic and theorist influenced by deconstruction. Hamacher is currently a Professor in the University of Frankfurt’s Institute for General and Comparative Literature (Institut für Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft). Professor Hamacher taught for more than a decade at the Humanities Center and the German Department of the Johns Hopkins University. He has also taught at Yale University, the Freie Universität in Berlin, the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, the Franz Rosenzweig Center of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and the École Normale SupÉrieur in Paris.
